Desert Hills Captures Lead Early To Defeat Hurricane HHS Varsity

 Hurricane HHS Varsity fell behind early and couldn't come back in an 18-1 loss to Desert Hills on Friday. Desert Hills scored on a double by Andrus, a triple by Hurdsman, an error, and a wild pitch by Milne in the first inning.
The Hurricane HHS Varsity struggled to contain the high-powered offense of Desert Hills, giving up 18 runs.
Desert Hills fired up the offense in the first inning, when Andrus doubled on a 2-0 count, scoring three runs.
Desert Hills scored nine runs in the second inning. Desert Hills big bats were led by Andrus, Hurdsman, Peterson, Thorpe, Rhoton, and Andrus, all sending runners across the plate with RBIs in the inning.
Thorpe pitched Desert Hills to victory. He allowed three hits and one run over three innings, striking out six and walking zero. Turner and Kinross entered the game out of the bullpen and helped to close out the game in relief.
Rylee Kent took the loss for Hurricane HHS Varsity. He surrendered six runs on four hits over one-third of an inning, striking out one and walking one.
Kage Akipaleka, Jerimiah Johnson, and Austin Wright each managed one hit to lead Hurricane HHS Varsity.
Desert Hills scattered 15 hits in the game. Rhoton, Andrus, Thorpe, Hurdsman, and Allred each racked up multiple hits for Desert Hills. Rhoton went 4-for-5 at the plate to lead Desert Hills in hits. Desert Hills didn't commit a single error in the field. Peterson had six chances in the field, the most on the team.
